An undiscovered gem?
There's a lot of things in this world which I really enjoy. One of them is anime (you might have figured that out already). Other things I like include: books, fantasy, vampires and dramas.I was doing some random googling the other day (as you do), trying to find a vampire movie that I hadn't seen yet. And I found it. Miracle.
So anyways, I googled something along the lines of "IMDB vampire" and came across a couple of user lists. I went through them all and eventually found a movie I'd never heard of. I contacted the grapevine - no one knew what the hell I was talking about when I asked if they'd ever heard of "Rufus". Well, I did get some answers, but I had to tell them I wasn't talking about the 2016 release in which something with a dog turning human happens (it's all quite vague).
I concluded that no one would be able to tell me a damn thing about "Rufus (2012)" and went back to IMDB. I looked at the score: 6.2/10 - scored by 265 users. That's not a great many users. I checked the reviews, decided that I was going to watch the trailer and thus watched it with a fairly open mind.
This is the Rufus (2012) trailer (straight from IMDB, thank god for my embedding skills, haha - okay, okay, it might not work because I'm a total newbie at this):
Anyways. Have you watched it? Watch it, damn it! As soon as the old lady got hit by the truck (or whatever it is) I was hooked. I watched it (found it on an obscure website somewhere) and I was in love.
I'll first tell you what it's about. The movie is a Canadian production and it's about this boy called Rufus who arrives in a desolate town along with an old lady. We don't know anything about him. The lady gets run over and Rufus gets taken in by the local chief of the police (what's that called in Canada?? I know it's a sheriff in the US). He lives with the chief and his wife, whom have lost their child in an unfortunate accident.
He befriends his neighbor (we still don't know anything about him) and a lot of stuff happens.
Don't go in expecting a lot of gore though (there's some, but this isn't a "crazy monster starts killing off every person in town" kind of movie), this is more of a slow-paced mystery/drama/horror movie.
I'm not going to say anything else (don't want to ruin the experience for you if you're planning on watching it), just know that I really enjoyed it and that it's a shame not many people know about this hidden gem.
Thanks for reading guys!
I'll post some anime reviews soon (I've had them partially made for a while now, I just need to finish them).
